Noir

Sometimes the most interesting thing to photograph, and possibly the only thing that makes sense to photograph, is darkness. I often run across artifacts that seem very ominous to me. It's almost as if there is a silent story playing out below the horizon of our consciousness that we prefer to ignore.

Some of these images were made in the middle of the day, but most were made at night, when the optimism of sunlight has given way to a shadowy kind of doubt.
